Man, it's been way too long. I keep putting the updates off for one reason or another (like going on vacation, or installing Vista which doesn't recognize my tablet drivers), but I sort-of justified it to myself whenever I looked at MacHall. I thought "gee, they're old pros at this, and if they can slow down, then so can I." Apparently, though the slow-down was merely a precursor to the end of the comic (or at least, and end to its current state). I'll miss their comic, but by the same token I'd rather not follow their lead. Surely there's more to do, more to draw, and more to make fun of.
I hope their reboot goes well, and I think that this may be some good prompting for me to consider a reboot as well. If not a reboot in the comic itself, but a reboot in the way I do the comics. Maybe I'll go back to black & white for a while ... one of the biggest problems for me right now is that even for a simple strip like the one above, it takes well over 2 hours to do an update (not including any time required to come up with the idea for the strip). I usually don't have that kind of time. Besides, professional comic artists (i.e. syndicated newspaper comic authors) only create one out of every 7 strips in color. The remainder usually aren't even shaded. Who knows? I'll have to put some thought into it.
Anyhow, I know that an Otakon strip after all this time is a little disappointing, but the idea was already in place and it let me fire one off while I try to re-think things. This is yet another one of those "funny but true" moments ... Beth and I tried a new hotel outside of the city this year ... but finding it was quite a chore. It was effectively hidden within a corporate park. And, even though it was exactly where Google said it would be, it was hidden from view until you crested the final hill. A few times along the way Beth and I were convinced we were totally lost but we got there just fine.
Anyhow, I have a week's vacation worth of Animal Crossing to catch up on, and I want to maybe write something down regarding Pie2k changes. (for some reason, I'm able to think things out better if I write them down)
