For all of you who are concerned... relax. We obviously made it out okay, evidenced by my posting this.
It's been a while since I've posted. I'm very sorry to all my regular readers. All 3 of you. I swear. I've been really out of it recently, and I haven't had too much willpower to do anything at all. Bill, Bill, and I have been on a diet recently (speaking of willpower), and that's been driving me absolutely psychotic because it requires a severe change in eating habits, with no results to speak of so far. It confuses the hell out of me too, and let me tell you why.
It's a simple calorie counting diet. On average, people burn about 2000 calories a day, give or take a couple hundred. And that's an estimate for people sitting on their asses all day. So, the idea is to keep your diet at around half of that. That way, you'll take in 1000 calories, but use 2000, which means some of it has to come from your fat. It's a slow diet, and it's intended to teach you to change your eating habits. We're two weeks in, though, and I'm at exactly the same weight. I'm wondering if maybe our "off night" isn't a terrible idea. "Off night" is the one night a week you're allowed a normal meal, like at a diner or a restaurant. I'm thinking that a cheeseburger, even if only once in a week full of salad, wreaks havoc on a diet. I'm willing to keep on this diet until the semester starts at least. By its very nature, it's a slow process, but one which helps to keep the grocery bills down.
