And the Mark Foley (R) scandal rages on. If you aren't jaded on the American governmental system at this point, then you're just not paying attention. In specific, when Nancy Pelosi (D) (House Minority Leader) called for an investigation into exactly what Foley had done, and whether anybody had covered it up, the investiagion was blocked by John Boehner (R) (House Majority Leader). His excuse: He hadn't "had a chance to read the resolution." What an ass-hat.
     But what really takes the cake, however is that after blocking Pelosi's call for an investgation on September 30th, Boehner then calls for his own GOP-led investigation on October 1st. Based on timing, his real objection may have been that no Democrat would be allowed to investigate evil before Republicans do. After all, you can't really hold up the morals & ethics banner if the Democrats start an investigation into corruption within your party. If you do the investigation yourself, it's no-longer corruption: it's reform.
     More to the point, though, whereas Pelosi's investigation would've delved into who knew of Foley's "indiscretions" and how they kept it secret, Boehner's will not. Instead, it plans to investigate whether the timing of this article (one month before election day) is actually a ploy by the Democrats to discredit the Republicans.
     Okay... I'll grant that the timing is suspicious, but the people who "leaked" the story were complaintants, i.e. former pages who had dealings with Foley. If there's anybody involved in a vast conspiracy to ensure that Foley doesn't get re-elected, it's people who feel they've been personally wronged by him. That doesn't seem so hard to accept to me.
     On the personal front, I finally got a cell phone. That's right ... I'm a computer programmer, I've had my own website (here and there) since 1997 ... and it took me until 2006 to get a cell phone. I'm digging the phone, though ... it's an N-Gage QD. And before you ask, yes, most of the reason I like it is because of the kitch factor. The thing allows for midi ringtones... so now I just need to get a bluetooth connection running so that I can put some Mega Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. music on there for ring tones. w00t.
